Around 170km north-west of Riyadh in the region of Shaqra lies the Salt Flats of Al Qasab. It is an ancient city that has developed a longstanding reputation since the pre-Islamic era, especially for the production of raw salt.
The place has become a tourist destination where visitors learn about natural salt extraction and processing.
