The ancient village of Al-Hawza in Dhahran Al-Janoub










The southern province of Asir is full of locations that feature a wealth of historical and heritage sites. 

One such area is Dhahran Al-Janoub, known for its charming landscapes and ancient monuments, notably Al-Hawza village.

Rich history

The entire ancient village of Al-Hawza, located on the banks of the Al-Areen Valley, is surrounded by a protective wall with three gates and features many historical mud houses lying adjacent to each other. 

Castles and forts

Because of its strategic location, the area enjoys a rich history demonstrated by the presence of majestic castles and forts that remain intact to this day due to their robust and splendid architecture.

Al Hawza Mosque

The village’s mosque was built more than 100 years ago and is characterized by ornate walls covered with ancient inscriptions of different shapes and sizes. 

There is also a historic well nearby carved into the rock with a width of 1.5 meters and a depth of more than 30 meters.
